A second day with more rain still hampered our aerification process. While we did complete pulling the cores from the greens and topdressing them all, the rain has been washing the sand into the turf canopy instead of giving us the chance to wash it all in. Now the greens have reached a saturation level that has brought our process to a screeching halt. We are attempting to roll the tire tracks out from our topdressing and will have to shift our procedures to verticutting the greens to lift the sand on them up and drag the sand in. This process generally takes a little longer to complete and heal over but with the smaller holes this time I am still hopeful the greens will recover by next weekend. We need a few good days of dry sunshine in order to allow us to work through the process though.
All 18 holes are again open for play. I thought this would be a good time to introduce a couple of videos on why we aerifye greens from the USGA. sorry I could not paste them directly to the blog but if you click the link it will take you to the USGA site with several educational videos. Enjoy
