One good thing about all of the extremely cold weather we have had!

When the turf goes completely dormant, like most of our course currently is, it allows us to use some of the cheapest chemicals in removing the winter weeds. Today My assistant Ricky and Richard have been making their way around the course with the sprayers getting rid of the winter clover. The dormancy has allowed us to use some of our non-selective herbicides (Round-up and reward) which we had left over from summer. Normally these chemicals would be bad news to turfgrass since they will kill just about anything, but with the turf basically sleeping we are able to go at them.
